Testimonials
Denmark Pilongo
Customer Service Specialist

"I am glad I found The American Institute because they helped me in improving my conversation fluency and developing my confidence. At first, I was very intimidated when speaking in English, but I became more and more comfortable. I am currently working as customer service specialist in the BPO/Call Center industry, and I have The American Institute to thank for. I am still a part of the institute through their English Club called Universal Pro-English Club. We've done many activities including trips to Baguio, Lucena, interview strategies, and many more so that we can use English in a natural setting."

Alice Anod
Accountant and Auditor

"The English language Specialists are very different from all the teachers I've had in high school or college. Most teachers I've had in the past were very strict and distanced themselves from the students, but these guys will make you feel like you're one of them. In fact, we call them by their first names, not "sir" or ma'am." They respect us as students with individuality, and at the same time, we respect them for their knowledge and expertise. I used to work for a relatively small local bank, but now I work for a major international firm after developing my speech and communication skills through them."

Elaine Villafuerte
Hotel Operations Specialist

"Before I came to The American Institute, I was already somewhat confident with my English; I simply wanted to polish my speech and communication skills. What I found was that I had so much more to learn. They really taught me how not to just speak English, but how to speak WELL. I was able to improve my critical thinking skills and became a more organized speaker. Now, I work for a five-star hotel, and I am so much more confident when dealing with local executives as well as foreign business professionals. I would highly recommend their services."

My first ever computer was a Macintosh LC2.  I forgot how much it cost, but my next computer was a laptop, Powerbook, which cost me $1200 in 1995.  My current laptop, a Compaq, was only $550, and it is much faster than my old Powerbook.

Do you prefer Apple or IBM compatible?

i'd really love to have a macbook.  and now there's even a macbook air. i like it because its so white and sleek and i've heard it's perfect if you're fond of graphic design and video editing.  unfortunately i can't afford it so i just settled for compaq.  i just bough a new notebook two weeks ago,  I wanted the latest features like intel core 2 duo and 2.1 ghz processor but i had to stick to my budget.  i got intel core and 1.8 ghz.  it's not as fast as i expected but at least it's an upgrade to my 7-year old asus notebook.

My laptop is about two years old.  I've been looking for a new one as well, but this one still does its job.  This laptop also has some sentimental values.

So what did you do with your last computer, Kai?

I've had bad experience with Compaq. Our first computer was a Compaq. It gave us lots of problems no matter how many times we got it fixed. We only had it for 2 years and it was already lagging. This computer we have now is an HP. Not too much major problems. Had a couple of reboots done here and there but it's still functional. It hasn't broke down yet since we purchased it and that was about 3 years ago. I want to buy a new desktop just because this computer needs to be updated as far as graphic cards and memories goes. I always wanted to try DELL and GATEWAY. I'm still deciding on which brand I'm actually going to get. Apple is a good brand also but I'm just so used to PC.

For me, the design of Apple PC's looks more so sleek and sophisticated but in terms of being user-friendly, I prefer to use IBM.

I don't go for the brand, I just assembled my own PC. I am just using my dell laptop during project presentation but I still prefer working on a desktop PC with at least 17" (and up) monitors Wink

For desktops, I prefer to assemble my own.  It's way, way cheaper, better in every aspect since I can use my choice components (e.g., video card, motherboard, memory, etc).

For laptops/notebooks, I'm using a Toshiba Satellite M200.  This is my second notebook.  The first one was Toshiba Satellite A20.

when im new in the IT profession i am thinking of ACER,when i go further, i am thinking of Compaq, but when i learned that Assembling computer or simply says clone is a good one, first you can choose the parts based on your budget, you can install open source program, not relying on microsoft products, second, you can design your own system by customizing the inner part of your CPU.So if i were you better top ask professionals before buying new one.

the office is using a compaq and i'm using one to care of the company  Grin cheesy eh, i mostly use it to read comic books anyway, it's an old one and needs replacing, but losers can't be choosers, i'm just happy i can use one at my leisure ass

can't argue what those cheap ba$tards procured ten years ago, they got it from the usual government institution bidding, but who cares, as long as it's working, why be picky pcwhack

MAC's design and marketing make them look sophisticated and classy but I still prefer IBM compatible brands. They can also do the same amount of work that MAC's do at a lower and more reasonable price. On my next laptop purchase, I am highly considering a Sony Vaio.

HP & Dell. You will not have a guilt feeling when you buy personal computer or laptop with these brands.

alienware, dell, macbook, acer, lenovo, compaq, and xps are the best brands you can trust on laptops. Vaio, hp, toshiba, and neo are those easy to break, although they are best choices too. It's hard to repair, plus, it requires a big budget to replace the broken components of it. It's also hard to find.
